How Prestige points are earned

Current full-release gameplay shows the Prestige Preview awarding points for reaching collection/progression milestones. The preview lets you see which point bars are close enough to finish before resetting.

That is the best way to decide whether to stay in a reign: compare time to the next visible point with the permanent value you can buy now.

Do not assume every attractive-looking milestone is efficient. A point that needs a small amount of a resource you already produce quickly is cheap. A point that requires a weak new production chain can be expensive even if the number looks close.

A practical first-reset rule

The tutorial in current gameplay introduces Prestige at a small first bundle of points. Rather than force one exact number on every run, use this sequence:

  1. Open Prestige Preview.
  2. Count milestones that are genuinely close with your current production.
  3. Finish the cheap ones.
  4. Stop when the next point requires a new bottleneck, long cooldown or several upgrades.
  5. Reset and buy upgrades that attack the bottleneck you just experienced.

This avoids both extremes: resetting immediately for too little permanent value, and waiting an hour for a single point that would have taken ten minutes after a reset.

Best early upgrade categories

The tree is large — the developer advertises 100+ Prestige upgrades — so “best” depends on what is slowing you down. In current gameplay, the high-value early categories are:

Your bottleneckPermanent upgrade type to value
Too much manual setupAutomation / auto-start options
Worker cap slows every runStarting/max worker improvements
Waiting on the same raw resourceWorker production / starting-resource boosts
Crafted goods dominate run timeCrafting productivity / time improvements
Storage blocks purchasesStorage / warehouse-related improvements
Quest loop is slowQuest reward or cooldown improvements

The point is not to follow a rigid “1-2-3” purchase list. Buy the permanent upgrade that removes a problem you actually hit every reign.

What carries over after current hotfixes?

This is where old advice is most dangerous.

Warehouses and warehouse upgrades

v1.0.2 changed carryover substantially. Warehouses built in a previous reign can translate into later runs when you begin with buildings, and purchased warehouse upgrades are intended to carry forward rather than being repurchased every reset. Starting stock behavior was also changed.

University Research progress

v1.0.1 fixed a bug where University Research level progress carried over incorrectly. The developer said that prestiging again repairs saves affected by the old bug.

Formations

Full-release footage shows formations becoming a persistent organizational system as combat expands. Exact formation unlock behavior should be read from your current game rather than inferred from an old Demo guide.

Do similarly named Prestige upgrades stack?

Players are actively asking whether multiple tiers of similar upgrades stack or whether the highest tier replaces a lower one. Our current verified source set does not provide a reliable general rule for every pair.

So there isn’t a confirmed single number to copy. If an upgrade tooltip explicitly says “additional,” “per level,” or gives a cumulative total, follow that text. For ambiguous pairs, keep a point unspent until the value can be confirmed in the current version.

Why storage advice from launch day can be wrong

v1.0.2 flattened warehouse cost curves, boosted Prestige storage upgrades and increased starting storage. v1.0.3 then raised endgame storage caps again. A guide recorded on September 3 can therefore make Prestige look mandatory purely because the old storage ceiling was much tighter.

Use Storage & Warehouse Guide for the current numbers.

Prestige checklist before you click reset

  • Finish any visible, cheap Prestige milestones.
  • Spend expendable resources on useful permanent progress if they will otherwise be lost.
  • Note the bottleneck you want the next run to solve.
  • Check whether a patch has changed carryover behavior since the guide/video you are following.
  • Do not delay a reset just to make the current reign look “complete.” The permanent loop is the point.
